Between 1970 and 1984, Julian and Mary would go on working holidays which would trigger incredible etchings. Mary has described Julian's ability to capture the essence of the places he visited: 'what he saw, thought and felt was immediately translated into prints and paintings which reflected the very smell of where he had drawn his inspiration' (Mary Fedden, preface to Julian Trevelyan Catalogue Raisonne of Prints'). In this work Julian has flicked acid onto the plate to suggest a rocky texture on the peninsula.
