This work features the Durham Wharf Studios and dinghies by the jetty. Trevelyan wrote of the changing tides of the Thames in his memoir: 'If the tide is low, a huge area of purple-black mud is revealed, the Thames having contracted to a tiny stream down to the bottom of the mud-banks; boats and barges lie tipped drunkenly on their sides, and boys hurl stones for dogs.'
