Kenneth Newton 1933-1984

Born in Kent in 1933, British artist Kenneth Newton is best known for his dark still lives and flower paintings, recalling the Dutch momento mori tradition. During his time as a student at the Royal Academy, Newton was awarded with several commendations, including first prize medals for drawing, portrait, landscape and life painting. Examples from Newton’s early career include landscapes and nudes and are much more painterly in style.
