A straightforward and enjoyable way to buy art

Jenna Burlingham Gallery's extensive inventory of Modern British and Contemporary art includes works from established artists, lesser known names and new makers and covers a breadth of mediums, styles and genres. Whether you are a first time buyer or a regular collector, looking at one or many works, we would love to help. The gallery's friendly team is on hand to give specialist advice on artworks and guidance on framing, conservation, delivery, placement and installation.

Visiting the Gallery

- Located in the village of Kingsclere (RG20 5NQ), the gallery occupies an extensive complex of buildings around an enclosed courtyard.
- There are two main gallery buildings and a further cottage and loft apartment, together offering over 4,000 sq ft of exhibition space.
- Allow plenty of time to enjoy the space. Coffee, tea and soft drinks are always to hand!
- There a some wonderful places to eat and stay nearby, with suggestions listed on the website (on the 'Find Us' page under the 'About' tab).
- It is not necessary to make an appointment but it is always helpful to know of a visit in advance, particularly if a specific item is of interest (in case it is off-site and needs to return to the gallery).
- For those who cannot come to the gallery, artworks can often be viewed elsewhere or borrowed at home with our weekly van run that covers much of the UK.
- There is a wheelchair ramp available which allows access to all ground floor gallery spaces, but there are not any ramps or lifts for first floor rooms.

Exploring the Website

- All items are for sale, unless listed as 'Sold' with a red dot beside the title.
- All one-dimensional items are framed (and are listed with secondary framed images), unless 'Unframed' is written before the medium.
- All one-dimensional items are listed with the dimensions of the artworks themselves, without their frames (i.e. the canvas, board, paper etc.). Frame dimensions are available on request.
- All artworks can be accessed from the navigational bar under 'Artists' (a list of creators by surname) or under 'Artworks' (individual works sorted into six categories).
- All artworks on the category pages can be sorted by 'Price low-high' or limited to Price Ranges of 'Up to £1,000', 'Between £1,001 to £5,000', 'Between £5,001 to £10,000', 'Between £10,001 to £50,000' or 'Over £50,000'.
- All artworks on the category pages can be sorted by size, limited to 'Small' (works under 60 cm wide), 'Medium' (61 and 122 cm), 'Large' (123 to 213 cm) and 'Very Large' (anything over this).

Buying Art

- Buying directly from our website is possible for any item with a 'Purchase' button. This applies to all Modern, Print and Ceramic items under £5,000, and to all Contemporary works under £8,000.
- The prices shown on the website include VAT as we operate the margin scheme.
- The prices shown on the website do not include any additional delivery costs or export tax.
- Items can be added to the website cart to a total value of £8,000.
- If any work or the total in the website cart exceeds £8,000 then the buyer is required to contact the gallery to confirm their identity before proceeding with their purchase. This is a Government requirement under AML regulations.

Payments within the UK

- Payment for purchases via the website online system requires the entering of contact information, a shipping address, and card details. Payments are processed using Stripe. An automatic email from the gallery confirms the purchase. Soon afterwards the gallery's logistics specialist makes contact to confirm delivery options (see below).
- For purchases made outside of this online system, through the website 'Enquiries' option, an invoice is issued which includes the gallery's bank account details for payment in GBP.
- Alternatively, on request, a link can be sent by email to allow online payment using a debit or credit card. Most cards are accepted and the gallery can advise on any surcharges.
- Payment by instalments can usually be arranged, in which case the artwork(s) are delivered when full payment has been made.

International Payments

- We make international sales on a regular basis and pride ourselves on our efficient logistics support.
- If you would like to settle in USD or EUR, then we have accounts to pay in those currencies.
- As above, payments can be made through the online system, or outside this system by bank transfer, or via a payment link. Most global cards are accepted and the gallery can advise on any surcharges.

UK Deliveries

- Mainland UK delivery is free for all purchases over £800.
- UK deliveries are usually made by one of the gallery's trusted specialist art couriers within one week, though often sooner.
- The gallery's logistics team makes contact via email to arrange a suitable delivery time, often a Tuesday or Wednesday for London deliveries.
- Artworks are inspected and amended before leaving the gallery, athough there may still be some marks or scuffs on frames, particularly if these are older or original examples.
- Artworks travelling with the gallery's couriers are wrapped in a single layer of strong bubble-wrap. The gallery re-use packaging so this may have a few nicks and scuffs.
- We try to avoid postal services but some small deliveries may be sent using these third-parties, in which case the gallery will be in touch about this.
- If immediate delivery of purchases is not possible they can be set safely aside for up to 3 weeks. If storage is required for more than 3 weeks please discuss this with the gallery.

US and International Deliveries

- The gallery regularly ships items to the USA, Europe and elsewhere, working with a small group of trusted shippers at all price points.
- If you are considering one or more works and would like to know the shipping cost in advance of a decision we are happy to provide competitive quotes. Works are released after payment and delivery is arranged as quickly as possible thereafter.

After Buying

- All our works are authentic and come with the guarantee of the gallery. We are happy to provide paperwork reiterating this, e.g. a Certificate of Authenticity,  but you will need to request this as it is not a usual part of our process.
- We operate our tax on the Margin Scheme which means that there is no VAT to pay on top of quoted artwork prices and none that can be claimed back. For more information please click here.

Selling Art

- If you have a painting, print, sculpture, or ceramic that you would like to have valued for sale, interest or probate, do let us know.
- We are always keen to source Modern British artworks from collections and have a flexible and straightforward approach to both consignments and purchases.
