We are delighted to announce our collaboration with the Dartington Hall Trust on the Elmhirst Visitor Centre, which opens to the public at Dartington Hall on 15th August 2025.
This year marks the centenary of Leonard and Dorothy Elmhirst's purchase of the Dartington estate near Totnes in Devon. Jenna Burlingham Gallery has worked with the Trust to restore three key spaces in Dartington Hall to exhibit selected works from the Elmhirst's Modern British collection, gathered from the 1920s onwards.
Dorothy’s morning room and Leonard’s study, together with the entrance hall and staircase, are to be presented much as they appeared in the pages of Country Life in the 1920s. Visitors to the centre will see works by Edward Bawden, Cecil Collins, Frances Hodgkins, Felix Kelly, Bernard Leach, Ben Nicholson, Winifred Nicholson, John Piper and Christopher Wood among others. In addition, Dartington’s early Henry Moore sculpture can still be seen in the spectacular gardens to the south, on the hill beyond the Tilt Yard.
