'At that time, Hayden's attention was directed more and more towards the center of France, precisely to the land near Marne, about 60 kilometers east of Paris, and the choice of that area was related to the presence of a friend there during the occupation. Samuel Beckett, who finds shelter from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. The Haydenas spend the summer periods between 1951 and 1961 in Mareuil-sur-Ourcq, Ussy-sur-Marne, Fay-le-Bac and Changis-sur-Marne. It is here that Hayden's painting is finally crystallized, fascinated by the serene beauty of these landscapes, which at seventy years of age surprises with the freshness of the look, the softness of the line, and the masterly color handling.'
