We are delighted to have taken delivery this week of new work by Martin Yeoman.
This summer paintings by Martin feature in the Royal Collection Trust's exhibition, 'The King's Tour' in the ballroom at Buckingham Palace, 10 July to 28 September 2025. The exhibition is the centrepiece of this year's summer opening of Buckingham Palace. It is accompanied by the publication of a book, 'The Art of Royal Travel: Journeys with the King', which features recollections by the 42 artists who have accompied the King on his 69 Royal Tours to 95 countries across four decades.
Robert Hardman writes in his review of the book, 'Martin Yeoman, one of the earliest members of this exalted club, remembers going to a charity shop to buy himself a 1950s suit ahead of the prince's 1986 tour of the Middle East. Even then, it didn't convince everyone on the journey through Oman and Qatar to Saudi Arabia. Sitting outside a police station sketching a man with a wheelbarrow, he was arrested for being a spy. 'When the press arrived with their huge cameras, no one batted an eyelid', he recalls. 'People were more suspicious of me sitting queitly with my pencil.'
