Blackmore, or Blackmore End as its called, is a small hamlet near to Weatherfield and close to Finchingfield in Essex. Vaughan made several paintings based around the village.
Vaughan was a regular visitor to this part of Essex, sometimes visiting Michael and Elisabeth Ayrton at their home, Bradfield. In 1964 he bought three run-down artisan's cottages and had them converted into a weekend home called Harrow Hill, at Toppesfield.
